The theories of Austrian psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud and French psychoanalyst Jacques Lacan once played a very important role in psychology and mental health, but by 2025 it may be difficult to choose a traditional psychoanalytic career for several reasons.

1. **Emphasis on evidence-based approaches**: In the United States, psychotherapy is increasingly moving toward evidence-based therapy. Methods such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) are becoming more and more common, with many studies proving their effectiveness. Freud and Lacan's theory, on the other hand, is often criticized for lacking scientific verification.

 

2. **Problems with insurance claims**: Many insurance companies often do not cover psychoanalytic treatment. Psychoanalysis, which requires a long-term course of treatment, can be economically burdensome.

 

### Europe

1. **The emergence of various treatments**: In Europe, various approaches are developing in the field of psychotherapy, especially in short-term or solution-focused therapy (Solution-Focused Therapy). This trend contrasts with the long-term approach of traditional psychoanalysis.

 

2. **Cultural Change**: In modern society, there has been a strong tendency to value the practical effects of treatments and quick resolution. Lacan and Freud's approach can sometimes feel lengthy and complex, making it unsuitable for rapidly changing modern culture.

 

### Korea

1. **Change in perception of mental health**: There is a growing awareness of mental health issues in South Korea, and accordingly, the demand for accessible treatments is also changing. Efficient and scientifically proven treatments are preferred, which may adversely affect the psychoanalytic approach of Fried and Lacan.

 

2. **Social Pressure and Performance **: There is pressure in Korean society that values quick resolution and results. For this reason, a quick and practical method is preferred over traditional psychoanalytic therapy, which is time-consuming and expensive.

 

Although each region has different preferred approaches for psychological counseling and treatment, they tend to emphasize practicality, scientific evidence, and economic feasibility in common. Therefore, it may be increasingly difficult to make a profession of Fred and Lacan's traditional psychoanalysis.
